Description
In the year 2167 the earth was struck by an electromagnetic shockwave caused by a nearby supernova which caused great destruction on the Earth.

The year is now 2365, 189 years later. The Earth has recovered completely and even advanced as well. Several large space stations called "Foundations" have been constructed all over the solar system. On these stations Space Academies have been founded. At these academies teenagers are beeing educated to pilot space ships and several other important space related matters.

Katase Shima is a young girl from Earth who has been accepted to the academy at Stellvia, one of the foundations. She is now fulfilling her dream of seeing the universe. However her stay at Stellvia is going to do much more for her, as an interstellar catastrophe seems imminent to strike the solar system.

Review
The first thing I'm going to mention was this shows animations. They were extremely well done, and as most of the story takes place in space it used alot of cgi when flying in space. And it's been done very good. The flying through space is almost breathtaking.

The main character in the series is of course Katase. The other major characters are made up of her other classmates and some of the academy's instructors. Fourtunately in this show they have made some effort in giving depth to the characters which adds alot of flavour to the show.

The main storyline is focused mostly on the education in the academy as well as the students spare time. However the story is not completely linear which makes the show very intersting. Later on in the show we get some so called "teen angst" which is a little disturbing, but also makes the story more interesting.

So a pretty good sci-fi series if you don't mind seeing alot of girls running around flying space ships. Go Infinity!!
